About the Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference

The Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference was founded by trans activist, Charlene Arcila in 2001, as a one-day event that provided health care workers with competency training when treating transgender patients. Arcila remained involved with the conference for many years after it became a program of Mazzoni Center in 2006. Today, PTWC has grown into a 3-day conference with free general admission to attendees, a paid professional track for medical, behavioral health, and legal professionals, a safe, affirming, and inclusive space for youth (Kids Camp, and Youth Space), and ancillary events such as a Professional Track mixer and Keynote address.
